Give all your assets a unique ID"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All your assets have to have a unique ID (eg, a name) of some kind.&nbsp; This is so that when your employee is staring at, say, three very similar hammer-drills, they can identify which is which.<\/p>\n<p>You want the ID to be clearly imprinted on the asset itself.&nbsp; For labelling the asset, you might use paint, a permanent marker, vinyl stickers, embossed labels, etc.<\/p>\n<p>You might prefer to simply number everything incrementally.  But\u2026 <img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"float: right;\" alt=\"Strimmer equipment names\" src=\"https:\/\/toolfleet.com\/images\/equipment-strimmer-names.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\">WAY more fun than that, would be to let your staff loose on assigning GREAT names to all your assets, like \u201cGeorge\u201d, or \u201cMavis\u201d, or \u201cDolly Parton\u201d.&nbsp; Or maybe even \u201cGunthorpe-Buttershunt\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Oddly enough, the system of assigning \u201chuman-friendly\u201d names to assets, is extremely reliable and efficient:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It makes database searches very easy (much easier to type \u201cFred\u201d than it is to type \u201cGR0005KL0\u201d).&nbsp; Likewise, it makes it much easier to identify the asset in amongst a bunch of other similar assets.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s great for morale.<\/li>\n<li>The assets will become better-loved.&nbsp; Seriously!&nbsp; If you entrust your staff with the task of naming the asset you\u2019ve just put them in charge of, they\u2019ll be a lot more likely to look after it properly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a title=\"5.
